Creating a token

One screen, 0.5 NEAR, and then it is out of your hands.

You give it a name, a ticker and a picture, set the buy tax and the sell tax, and choose how the tax is divided four ways. You can also make its first buy yourself.

You also pick what it trades against: NEAR, SHARDS, RHEA, Zcash, Quantus or one of the Ondo stocks, ETFs, metals and bond funds.

You also pick where it graduates: a Shards pool or a Rhea pool. Creating it costs 0.5 NEAR on a Shards pool and 1.25 NEAR on a Rhea pool, whichever pair you pick, and it is always paid in NEAR.

Everything here is decided before you sign, the pool the coin graduates into included. The first buy, if you make one, happens once; everything else is fixed, for good once any upgrade window closes. The screen shows the exact fee the contract is asking for before you commit: 0.5 NEAR on a Shards pool, 1.25 NEAR on a Rhea pool, whichever pair you pick.

The supply, the taxes and the split are written into the contract the moment it goes live, and so are the pool, the pair, the pair's reserve (which sets what the token graduates at), the smallest buy it accepts and where its share of the SHARDS burn is paid. Nobody can change any of them afterwards, including us. What is fixed is the whole list, with its one exception: a token made before 6 October 2026 at 16:14 UTC can be upgraded by the platform until that moment.

The pool

Every token starts on the Shards curve. The pool is where it goes when the curve sells out, and you cannot change it once the token is made.

  • Shards pool. Its own pool inside the token's contract, on Shards. Any pair, a tax up to 10% a side, 0.5 NEAR to create.
  • Rhea pool. A new pool on Rhea, NEAR's largest exchange, which DexScreener charts. Takes any pair, a tax up to 4% a side, 1.25 NEAR to create. Trades on Rhea still pay your tax.

Shards pool or Rhea pool has the rest.

The taxes

Buy and sell are set separately. On the create screen each one is a whole percent from 1% to 10%, or to 4% on a Rhea pool. Whatever a token charges is what its creator chose. (The contract itself would accept 0% on one side, never on both, but the create screen does not offer it.)

Presets

Start from one of four and then change anything. Each one sends the whole 80% to a single place. The screen opens on Diamond hands; every preset is a starting point.

The first buy

You can declare a first buy of your own, paid in the token's pair. It is the token's first trade, at the untouched opening price, and nobody can trade ahead of it: the token stays closed until it lands, and a trade sent before then is refunded. If it has not arrived within 30 minutes, anyone may open the token without it, and you can skip it yourself at any time. A first buy smaller than the smallest buy the token accepts is refused.

The picture

Images are addressed by their content on IPFS and nothing else. A token page renders whatever the creator pointed at, so an ordinary web address would let that creator's host log the address and the browser of everyone who ever opened the page. The create screen refuses anything that is not an IPFS reference before you sign.

You start earning your share of the tax from the first trade. Collecting it is getting paid.
